Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

A Little Light Fare

Whole Lotta Love is a deeply silly song, and this poker-faced harmonizing exposes the fact: there’s something almost subversive about singing “I wanna be your backdoor man” with a scrub-faced smile in your voice like you were on a Prairie Home Companion. Plus, dulcimers.

Andy Prieboy–a Los Angeles legend and a very kind man–and Johnette Napolitano from Concrete Blonde steal Led Zeppelin’s classic, which is only fair.

  1. Andy Prieboy is a stone cold genius, not only as an interpretive artist, but as a singer of his own songs. He routinely gets damned with faint praise for not being Stan Ridgway, but fact of the matter is his Wall of Voodoo was a better band than Stan’s was. Please investigate his “We Are Hearty Drinking Men” and “All Hail The Corporation” immediately if you are not familiar with them. Highest quality goodness. Enthusiasm!
