I still remember the first time I heard this song from the shitty radio of my sky-blue Chevy Corsica; I was living in Los Angeles and driving west towards the ocean on Melrose, deep in East Hollywood.

You couldn’t look things up back then, not immediately, and for the rest of the day I walked around thinking that Johnette Napolitano from Concrete Blonde and Dolly Parton had just produced the single of the year.
