Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

Believe The Hype

Along with the initial Boreal Ridge pic that sent me up the mountain today, our man in Portland Mr. Completely turned me on to this short video of two men doing something.

I will not be more specific; I cannot, as I know not what the fuck is going on. May I be permitted a guess that this is Africa without being sent to the Problem Attic? Thank you. Furthermore, I will posit that this is some sort of ritual, or perhaps a contest. There seems to be sponsorship and spectators; wait: this could be a sporting event.

Yes, in fact: in one of the shots, there’s a team of guys wearing uniforms, which means this is a ball game. This leads to the question of equation: is this guy the National Anthem? Is he the mascot? Is this how Africans spend their Seventh Inning Stretches?

The best thing about this video is that the whirling dervish in the elaborate and beautiful costume isn’t the best thing about the video. All hail the hype-man.

“LOOK AT THIS MAN! HE IS DANCING FOR YOU!”

“YOU NEED TO LOOK HARDER, FOR HE IS DANCING SO WELL!”

“LOOK!”

And so on.
