Remember Terry the Tramp?

He don’t remember you.

Also, I have no jokes about Terry the Tramp because, even though he died in 1970, I am still quite frightened of him.

You have a good sense of self preservation.

If legend is to be believed, Terry The Tramp was one of Owsley’s principal distributors in the mid-60s, along with his partner (and fellow Hell’s Angel) George Wethern. One Angels motto at the time was “Three can keep a secret if two are dead,” which isn’t exactly uplifting. Terry The Tramp was a key figure in Hunter Thompson’s Hells Angels book.

If you would like the full, disturbing story, look into a book called Wayward Angel by George Wethern. Wethern was VP of the Oakland Hells Angels (Sonny Barger was the President), and Terry was in the SF Angels. Of course, at the time Wethern wrote the book, he was in the Witness Protection program, so it’s hard to gauge the truth value of all of it. I can see that there seems to be a new. updated version of Wayward Angel, which I haven’t looked at yet. There are some Grateful Dead connections, related to the founding of the Carousel Ballroom (Wethern’s version of events is different than that of other participants).

So probably, yeah, no jokes is a good strategy. The Grateful Dead knew a lot of unsavory people, and we shouldn’t lose sight of that.

Indeed I heard that info about him tt and Owsley in the book Orange Sunshine: The Brotherhood of Eternal Love and Its Quest to Spread Peace, Love, and Acid to the World. Which is a good read.

Pretty sure if Terry does rise from the dead (no choogly-type pun intended), he’ll be stopping to have a word with this dude before he goes looking for any bloggers to bash. So you’ve got that goin’ for ya…
