Dose Me On The Bus

further bus portland

Soup, get out of there.

“Heeeey, man.”

You’re living in Further?

“I’m not living here, man.”

Good.

“Just staying for a little bit, man.”

Not as good. Is this thing the original bus?

“You know those Japanese temples that have been there for a thousand years, and they’ve burned down and been rebuilt five times, but yet are still the same temple, man?”

Yes.

“Like that, man.”

Tour’s over soon, Soup. What are you doing this fall?

“Volunteering, man. Going out with Hillary, man.”

Yeah?

“She’s not liberal enough for me, but a presidential campaign’s got a shitload of buses, man.”

Practical thinking.

  1. Wait, I always thought it was “Furthur,” not “Further.”

The provenance of this vehicle is highly suspect, at best.

In the Prankster film of the trip to the New York World’s fair, it says “Further”.

      • It is so deadhead of us to discuss this, I think it is both Furthur and Further, the front said one, the back said the other.

It’s spelled further. The rusting hull of the “original” bus is in the back woods of the Kesey family farm. Zane clams that this is the 3rd bus body (of 5 that have been used) that has been rebuilt to take out on the road. I’m sure someone can find a picture of what the original bus looks like now.

Oh yeah. And Soups temple analogy is the official prankster story. “It’s the same business we just replaced the tires. And the engine. And the body. And the rest of it.”

That’s really the official story? And they’re sticking with it?

The official story and the bullshit I come up with should never be the same thing.

  3. Prankster George Walker was in my little town of athens presenting Zane Kesey’s film. I think it was Zane’s film, where Zane did a Bus trip re-enactment thingy.

This was a few weeks ago, I was not aware so I missed it.

So anyhow, a heads up that some artsy cinema near you may or may not genuine pranksters and children of pranksters comin around.
