Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

Fake A Wish

Oliver Wendell Holmes was born. Mickey Dolenz from The Monkees, too. Cyd Charisse and Freddie Prinze, Jr.

Pigpen died. And Joe DiMaggio and Billy Eckstine.

Frazier and Ali fought in the Garden.

Nothing else of interest happened on the 8th. Posts may be light or non-existent this week.

If you truly leave us without posts, then what will we do?

Can we play in the comment section while you are being quietly dramatic without us to watch?

    ASCII art?

Write new lyrics to Dead songs?

Throw pebbles at your window till you blog for us?

Review your blog like it was the dead..

Man, 2015 was good, but 2014 had more energy.
I like a good Bobby appearance post followed by a precarious.

I would read Jesse’s book but I do not have it yet.. Jesse mail me your book !!!

    Hey Hey we’re the Dead
    People say we Pigpen around
    But we’re too busy stoning
    To put anybody down

    –no, this will never work

New lyrics won’t work, I vote for reviewing.

I personally think his strongest material is the self aware, multiple narrator, multiple points of view. Not only do I find it the most aesthetically satisfying, I think it’s the closest he comes to capturing what brought us here in the first place.

I don’t care for posts about subjects not of deep personal significance to me, though. So there’s a check in the minus column.

Did you just photoshop Mickey Dolenz’ face over Ned Lagin’s? If not, when did Mickey Dolenz play ‘Seastones’ ? Gives a whole new meaning to the term Phil & Mickey.

Apparently the Monkees were the first band to use a Moog on a “rock record”. I found the picture by accident/chance/luck.

My recent fav would be the Save Katy, Earthroamer bathroom series, truly Terrapinesque in terms of narrative and humor.

I really like the fictional dialog thing. “Hay Bobby….” “Hay Jerry….” and especially “Hay Wally” “Don’t call me that. “

I like big butts and I cannot lie.

I’m convinced the Warlocks would have knocked “Last Train to Clarksville” outta the park. Especially the outro.

Now that I think of it, Dead & Company could conceivably raise the roof with that one, too. Conceivably.

Yes, my teenybopper roots are showing. It took me a couple of years to decide where to rank the Monkees in relation to the Beatles. As far as who “ruled”. Although we didn’t…in those days…agh…my God, it seems like another century…

I assume the hiatus will allow TotD to focus on the repro Pigpen T-shirt.

When the hiatus ends, will ToTD send out cordial invites ala his muse?

So. You forsake us, for March in Florida.

Don’t forget, TotD. You’re the cake here, and the icing. The rest of us are just the nuts, fruits, and flakes on top.

    Happy Spring Break.
