I’m pretty sure Billy Squier opened for the Dead. Really, I’m not kidding.

Billy Squier and keyboardist Barry Flast (later Kingfish) were at Boston University together, and they were in a band called The Tom Swift Electric Band. The lead singer’s name was Tom Swift. They were the “house band” at Psychedelic Supermarket, at Kenmore Square, near BU.

The Dead played the Supermarket at least once, probably twice in December 1967. So it’s logical to think that Billy Squier opened for him.

    Still working on it.

You are literally the only man on the planet for this job.

I always liked Billy Squier. He had a half-dozen HoF rock riffs in him. I will never not turn Lonely Is The Night up as loud as it’ll go.

Could be worse. Not much, but it could be.

Wow, Billy Squier opened for the Dead. I remember in 5th grade I thought Lonely is the Night was a new Zep tune for weeks. No internet then, had to wait to get my new Guitar for the Practicing Musician mag to find that out.

FYI, McCartney’s “Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time” makes me want to drive my car into a brick wall at high speed.
