Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

Give ‘Em The Old Razzle-Dazzle

If you asked the best production designer in the world, “Can you make it look like no one gave a shit?” the stage would still look a million times better than this. Any effort or eye towards aesthetics–even if it’s to deliberately fuck it up–would ruin the perfect middle finger that is this haphazardousness.

(Precarious Lee has a cousin named Harold “Hap” Hazard, but I don’t know if we’ll ever hear about him again.)

  1. God, it looks worse than usual and I’m guessing it’s a 15 year anniversary?

Oh, that’s what that sign says. I’m usually better at Wheel of Fortune than that. Well spotted.

  2. Hmm. Compton Terrace (6/5/80) or Folsom Field (6/7 & 6/8)? The backdrop (or “backdrop”) makes me think Folsom Field, because they just used one end of the stadium for those shows. I don’t remember the banner in front of the stage, but 6/8 was my first show, so there’s a lot of things I don’t remember. (Of course, if the photo’s really from 1981 instead of 1980 then there would be a “16” hidden behind those speakers, not a “15”.)

    • 15 was a guess based on Brent’s hair and that they’d be more likely to celebrate an anniversary with a “5” in it.

  3. i remember the radio ads for the summer 1980 shows at folsom field. “were you alive in ’65? cuz the dead were, and we’re stiiiiiil grateful!” but that doesn’t look like folsom field to me. opinion based on nothing, but nevertheless fairly strongly held.
