For reasons too Byzantine to go into here, I saw Motorhead at the Henry J Kaiser Convention Center (formerly the Oakland Auditorium) on October 10, 1986. Not really my thing, but Lemmy was an engaging personality and the band was pretty fun. So it goes to show you can be surprised by what you see if you don’t jump to conclusions.
And just to show that my mind wasn’t particularly altered, I will point out that Megadeath opened the show, and they were dreadful, like pretty much all metal bands ever. Yes, yes, I have seen plenty of metal bands and they all sucked big time (Metallica, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue and many others). All the more reason that the fact that I enjoyed Motorhead was a tribute to Lemmy
Maiden rules.
Maiden and Motorhead both ruled, when i was a kid these guys were larger than life Metal Gods. I’m a dirtbag in disguise.
