Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

In Which I Correct Leonard Cohen

Bird On A Wire is one of my favorite songs, but it’s not perfect. Lenny got a word wrong, just one.

But I swear by this song
And by all that I have done wrong
I will make it all up to thee.

The word “thee” is an admission of poetic failure, and the reason God invented crumpling and wastebaskets.

Just one word:

But I swear by this song
And by all that I have done wrong
I will make it all up to me.

Mine’s better.

  1. Let your life proceed by it’s own design.

  2. Thou hast indeed improved it.

  3. What would be wrong with “you”?

I have always been suspicious of Leonard Cohen.
