Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

Join Together With The Band

Fun fact: this is a bigger crowd than at Trump’s inauguration.

Not fun at all fact: Trump was inaugurated.

Familiar fact: Mickey. Who does he look like? I can’t quite place my…oh, right.

I knew I recognized him.

Anyway: Meet-Up at the Movies is on 8/1/17 and the show is 7/12/89. Make your plans, or don’t. I’m not your boss.

My declining brain recalls that “Join Together With The Band” was a pretty good single by The Who, back in ’72 or so. Could be wrong

“Pretty good” is the perfect way to describe that one. It was the same song as Who Are You, but not as good.

Gotta love the Who. I can’t think of another Top 40 song that so prominently features the jew’s harp

Well, “Rag Mama Rag” by The Band did have a jaws harp. I’m not sure it was really Top 40, but then you were lucky if your local AM station was playing “Join Together.”

Robert Hunter claims that the first performance of “Tennessee Jed” was by him, on a jaw’s harp, on the streets of Barcelona, after some wine, as he walked down the street. Waiting for a tape.

        Lordy, I hope there’s a tape.

Says “RUN TIME: 1 hour 40 minutes.”

That don’t seem right, even for 1994-5 standards, never mind 89.

If nothing else, this finally ends the decades-long debate over why Bobby never wore a cape onstage.
