You’ll be back. They all come back.
I’m digging the Star Wars ToTD.

Because I appreciate the weirdness that is this place, most of my rhetoric is non-serious tongue-in-cheek playful shtick.
Just don’t go Dr. Who or Harry Potter on us….
Ugh to the first, meh to the second.
Does an bit of rock gear look goofier than the “attached to the head” microphone?
Keytar, but the head-mic is a very close second.
My first nomination for stupid rock gear would be a Vocoder, where the guitarist put a bag in his mouth and “sang” the notes while he played them. Way back in the Tattooine era, I saw Peter Frampton do the long version of “Do You Feel Like I Do” at Winterland with it (I am old). God it was dumb
My second nomination for stupid rock gear was the keyboard-on-a-strap, so the keyboard player could dance around like the guitar players. Not actually a good idea. Check any live Billy Preston or Gary Wright video from back in the 70s.
Also, they were inevitably playing wheezy synthesizer solos that were not improved by contorting their whole bodies. As Frank Zappa once said, all keyboard players secretly want to bend notes. So true.
At least Keith or Brent never came out with one of those things strapped around him.

About the 1:30 mark out comes the keytar.

wow, I had no idea that this key-tar thing is what you were referring to. Yeah that’s a version of the keyboard strap thing, a piano player pining to bend notes, just like Frank said.
Because I’m me, I’m pretty sure this is Allman Brothers circa about 1979 with Mike Lawler on piano and “key-tar.”

Goofy Rock Gear kindly requests it’s own post. An embarrassment of riches, I would presume.
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free.
Name one thing besides drums that Mickey plays that is not goofy?
The encyclopedia of goofy rock gear begins and ends with Mickey, from the brain sampling swimming cap, to the crotch horns to the thumb piano and yes even the beam..
