Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

Quiet, Too Quiet

2000 fucking words. I wrote 2000 fucking words on the Dave’s Picks series last night, and this piece of shit computer ate every single one. I went through the entire run until 2:30 in the fucking morning. I came up with many funny ways to say David Lemiuex’s name, and I was very mean to DaP 12 from Colgate ’77. (Tl;dr: Keith is terrible and mixed too high.) I mocked 80’s Truthers, and then eventually took their side.

We even visited with DL’s children. You remember the Lemieux Septuplets: Gordie, Girl Gordie, Northstar, Jean-Luc, Fleece, and the twins, Mickie and Billie.

Well, they’re gone. Canadian government took the kids and are raising them in a zoo for their own health and safety.

So here we are: you have nothing to read, and I came face-to-face with the utter pointlessness that is my continued existence.

Happy fucking Tuesday.

  1. no one cares about Keith if Jerry is hot

    sorry for your loss tho

  2. Bummer, maaaaan. I agree about Keith on Dap12, he was on his way down hill by then for sure. BUT, the rest of them band I think makes up for this. Playin’ > Eyes is one of the best transitions there is, and that The Other One is like a shot of tequila in the eye while you’re peaking on acid.

  3. was colgate a pick? i missed that. great show (except iko iko; ugh). mrcompletely is right.

    • yeah there’s only like one decent early version of Iko, that sluggish arrangement is boring as hell

there’s a chair by the fire for you to curl up on

  5. I’m sorry for your loss.

  6. I know I’m going to regret this, but what the hell is an 80s truther?

    • I believe “80s Truther” refers to the sort of Dead.net Commenter who swears that all the great Dead shows were really in the 1980s. Besides being an implicit rebuke to those of us who live and die by 1973, it is often embedded in some sort of weird conspiracy theory of how there are vested interests who want to deny Brent his due.

I don’t want to know how such people define the “vested interests” who are “denying the 80s.” It’s not going to be nearly as good as stories about a time machine, a auto-revivified Benji and a Wall that harbors a forbidden love for a Lady Blimp. Fiction isn’t true, but it can point to larger truths, and I don’t think “80s Truthers” point to anything larger.

Either that or it’s a Tears For Fears kinda thing.

  7. I’m sorry for your loss, but is it wrong that I’m sorry for our loss as well?
