Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

The Band You’ve Known For All These Years

Enthusiasts, if posts are light in the next few days, you can blame The Beatles. TotD has been gleefully streaming all of the genius work of everyone’s favorite band. What? The Beatles aren’t your favorite band and the best thing in the whole world? I would call you a Communist, but we all know that The Beatles were loved by Communists, and–along with Levi’s 501 jeans–won the Cold War for the good guys.

Gosh, I could listen to the Liverpudlians’ sweet harmonies forever, and re-purchase their catalog every two years. My favorite The Beatles’ songs? Besides ALL OF THEM!? Glad you asked!

  • The one that closes benefit concerts.
  • The one they stole from Chuck Berry.
  • The medley.
  • The other medley.
  • The George Harrison songs that are all so great. (He was a talent.)
  • Hey, it’s Billy Preston!
  • The drug song.
  • The one with a sitar, for some reason.
  • The twee song.
  • The whimsical song.
  • The fey song.
  • Let’s have Ringo do a number!
  • Revolutions #1-8.

  1. I’ll always love their music but I could literally go the rest of my life without ever hearing the Beatles again

brought to you by your local Craig Dealer

  3. George Harrison choogly-band song: “Apple Jam.” He may have others. But that one definitely qualifies, imo.

You may even be able to find yourself enjoying Eric Clapton’s guitar work on that one, TotD.

  4. Like the Beatles music okay. Never owned an LP/tape/CD. Didn’t pay much attention to the members of the band, but really respect the hell out of Ringo Starr.

One of my nephews got germinoma (cancer that travels in germ cells) when he was 7 years old that lodged in his brain. After a 6 year battle he was cancer free but as a result of the treatment he had growth/developmental problems that have left him mentally and physically handicapped for the rest of his life. He qualified for the Make a Wish List. One of his therapies is drumming. He LOVES the Beatles, loves Ringo Starr and Meeting Ringo was his Make a Wish. And he got his wish. But didn’t know he’d gotten it.

Whole family was flown out to LA, (Alexx thought it was just a vacation) rooms at the Roosvelt Hotel, sightseeing. Surprise visit by Ringo while at the Hard Rock Cafe. Ringo played a copy of the drumset he uses that just “happened” to be there, then asked Alexx to play for him. When Alexx was finished playing Ringo asked if he liked the drum kit. Alexx has Tourette’s (from the cancer) so his response was one of his bird like tweet/chirps ye haws. Ringo replied “good mate, their yours”.

He also gave Alexx sticks, photos,a bunch of stuff and had it all shipped back East. Setting up drums, playing with Alexx and giving him the kit was Ringo’s idea. Just beautiful.

Have a video of the long time they spent together and Ringo was incredibly sweet and kind with Alexx and never seemed like he was in a hurry even though he had a concert that evening.

I always though Billy Shears was the best Beatle.
