There is a new Grateful Dead song. It’s called Wandering Man, and it hasn’t been heard since 1966, and it just popped up today in a batch of rehearsal tapes.
It’s a terrible year, and we might not see the end of it, but there is a new Grateful Dead song.
(Jesse Jarnow found this, so go buy his book.)
Up next, the Jerry Garcia Hawaii sessions!
I have to say, among all the Dead songs, this one is the only song that I’d really really would not describe as a Dead song. Cardboard Cowboy/Mindbender/Tastebud/You Don’t Have To Ask/any-other-almost-unknown-song-from-66, compared to this “Wandering Man”, are prototypical Dead songs. It’s got something different. I’m not criticizing it, actually today I’ve listened to it 3 or 4 times, and it instilled me a sort of peaceful sensation.
