Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

There Ought To Be A Law

Here’s the thing about AC/DC.

We are not doing Thoughts on the AC/DC.

I’m ignoring you. Listen to this: it’s the Bon Scott version of the band at the Hammersmith in ’79, and the recording is superb. Don’t pay attention to Angus. I know it’s tough; he plays many notes. Listen to your right ear: that’s Malcolm, and he was the entire sound of the band.

Rhythm guitarists are the key, man.

Oh, shut up.

  1. If there is to be a Thoughts on the AC/DC, it can only be Bon Scott AC/DC.

      Dude. Back in Black. Dude.

      • Ok. I digress. You would need to include Back n Black.

After all, it is the first rock n roll record I personally bought (Saturday Night Fever soundtrack doesn’t count).

  2. Yes! Yes! ToAccaDacca! Yes!

(Thoughts on Brian Era too, please, not just Bon. It ain’t like Sammy Halen, namsain? Sammy Halen never produced a “Thunderstruck.”)

    (You can skip AxlDC though).

  3. As a rhythm guitarist, I agree about Malcolm being the most important element of AC/DC, but don’t forget about Phil Rudd. His no nonsense drumming style is crucial to the overall feel of AC/DC. He is definitely Charlie Watts to Malcolm’s Keith Richards. They don’t call it the rhythm section for nothing.

This is very true, but I gotta say that I liked the bald guy who played with them when they did Thunderstruck.

But, yeah: Phil Rudd is the man. Phil Rudd =/= Billy. Discuss.

      • The great Chris Slade. He came back after Phil melted down for the last album. Check out his discography. Man gets around and plays on some choice cuts for sure.

      • The Great Chris Slade began his career with Tom Jones in the early ’60s . . . and he had hair then . . .

        • Luther Von Baconson

Heavy Duty, love this, thanks! Fun Fact: according to Howard Kaylan (Shell Schocked), Tom allegedly called his penis Wendell and was fond of showing the Squashed Ham & Potato Salad from the tour bus window.

  4. I took my then-girlfriend, later first-wife now ex-wife to see AC/DC on the “thunderstruck” tour. Even managed to score a faux-dollar bill emblazoned with AC/DC logois, etc that dropped from the ceiling of the old Montreal Forum.

Also, Angus Young is a very short man.

  5. Since the MoMTDA seems to have been mothballed, how about a gallery devoted to rock star potato salad?

  6. Some old nobodaddy

Going goofy over AC/DC? Jesus McChrist! And such a high point with Queen, to fall to this. Call me when you get to Thoughts on Rush.
