There’s also a nice Dark Star > Eyes > China Doll from 1973-02-15, Dane County Coliseum, Madison, WI but that scared the shit out of me the first time I heard it so caveat emptor.
Also the 1973-11-11 Eyes (obvious call), the few from the June ’74 tour (Des Moines and Louisville especially), and 1974-08-06 Roosevelt Stadium.

A last thought for the evening on that – I’m getting the impression that Billy said yes to the 50th shindig based at least partially on his being the only actual kit drummer. Didn’t he make comments about this being an issue from his perspective back in the day?

Nah. Eyes recommendation too obvious. No one talks up the 5/3/77 AUD but to my ears it smokes the Marsalis version. At least take a listen and tell me what you think.
I am (unfortunately for you, PC) going to have to say I prefer to jam to ToTD’s choice. However, that doesn’t mean that I enjoyed it anymore than the one I like the most, Kezar 5-26-73. There’s just something about that particular show that I can’t keep away from. I think it’s the pace and the way Bob and Jerry really mix together so well. They were both on fire that night. Hell, the whole band was. I’m going to listen to FreedomHaul’s next.
I’ll listen to both and whomever’s one I like better, that’s who wins.
